Natural Skin Rejuvenation: A Combination of Things

by Judy Aulin

Premature aging is a battle that most women dread, however, what you need to keep in mind is that aging can be controlled with a combination of factors. Avoiding bad habits as well as using the right products helps boost your chances of deterring the aging process.

There are various habits that you can easily be avoided or changed to help you improve the appearance of your skin. For example, bad habits such as taking too much sun, smoking, and drinking too much alcohol can all lead to premature aging. However, the one thing we are all faced to deal with is solar exposure.

The Sun can Sabotage your Facial Skin Rejuvenation Efforts

Not everyone likes to smoke or drink alcohol, but everyone likes to feel those sun rays touch their skin, especially after being indoors all day. UV radiation produces a large part of the problems that appear during the aging process. Firstly, UV exposure produces free radicals that can eventually lead to the destruction of healthy skin cells and tissue.

Sun damage is cumulative which means that you won't see the damage the sun is producing until a couple of years have passed. However, by the time you're in your forties you'll start noticing age spots and wrinkles appear in areas that are most exposed to the sun.

The best way to protect your skin is to use a sunscreen or sun block. In order to keep a high level of protection throughout the day, you'll need to reapply frequently. Here's a general guideline to know how often to reapply sun block:

First, you need to find out how long it takes for your skin to turn red without any sun protection. There is no need to go overboard and feel the stinging sensation that is produced when you burn your skin. Second, multiply the time (in minutes) it takes for your skin to get red by the SPF factor on the bottle.

For example, if you have a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 and it takes your skin 1 min to redden, then you should reapply the product every 30 minutes to maintain a constant level of protection. Also remember to apply your sun protection 20-30 minutes before you go outside.

Natural Skin Rejuvenation Treatment Products

When you are looking for the right natural skin rejuvenation products, you should look for the following ingredients.

Products that contain Vitamin A in the form of Retinol, Tretinoin or Retinyl Palmitate - can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It can also help even out your skin tone, however, if you have sensitive skin you should prefer products that contain Retinyl Palmitate because it is the gentlest form of Vitamin A.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that offers the same benefits of Vitamin A plus the fact that it helps boost the production of collagen.

AHAs (Alpha-hydroxy Acids) - AHAs are thought to be natural exfoliators that reduce all the signs of aging and tighten the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid - helps moisturize the skin and makes it look plumper.
