Treating Mature Skin with Natural Skin Care Products

by Cynthia Alleyne

If you're hanging on to the same skin care routine you had when you were a teenager then you need a reality check. Aging means wrinkles, looser skin and hyperpigmentation. But, it also means that our skin is more sensitive and can be easily irritated by traditional skin care products, especially if you're using the wrong producgts.

A great way of treating your aging skin is by combining natural skin care products with a healthier lifestyle to help keep your skin looking younger without having to lead to irritation. This is a great way of battling the signs of aging because natural products generally contain fewer amounts of harsh chemical ingredients while a healthy lifestyle means eating healthier and avoiding excessive sun exposure and moderate alcohol and caffeine consumption.

Antioxidants: Your New Best Friend

Antioxidant skin care is a great starting point for your mature skin. Having been exposed to UV radiation, pollution, and smoking will produce free radicals that accelerate the aging process. Antioxidants help neutralize their effect and slow the aging process.

It is important to get antioxidants from every source you can find, including your diet. As a matter of fact, antioxidant skin creams are a much needed addition to your skin care routine.

Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are high in antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and fiber, making them the best kind of fruit.

In fact, the benefits obtained from this fruit are so amazing that they are a common ingredient in a number of skin care products. You can also find Vitamin E and Vitamin C in most antioxidant skin creams and antioxidant serums.

Moderate your UV Exposure

UV exposure leads to free radicals, which are lead to the destruction of healthy cells. In order to avoid this, you need to moderate the time you spend in the sun. Even though you think that a nice tan gives your skin a healthy glow, it is actually considered sun damage.

Make it a habit of using sunscreen when you go outdoors. All you have to do is use a sunscreen that has, at least, SPF30 and reapply often to maintain the product's protection level.

Protective clothing can also help keep your skin shielded from the sun. This is done by using wide-brimmed hats and long sleeved shirts that are made in a light weight fabric. And don't forget to use sunglasses to protect your eyes for UV radiation as well.

Homemade Products

If you're tired of the usual skin care products you find at your local pharmacy, you can also try making your own natural skin care products. This isn't a chore for everyone, but if you're interested you can find all kinds of great ingredients in your refrigerator, pantry and garden.

A great product for tightening your skin are egg whites. Simply beat the egg whites until they are frothy, apply, let set till dry, and then wash off with a moist washcloth.

Milk is another food product that can help treat mature skin. Milk can be used as a natural and gentle exfoliant. It can also help tighten the skin.

Sun damaged skin is one of the signs of aging that can be treated with BIOBEAUTYBALM. BIOBEAUTYBALM is made with snail serum which makes this healing balm a great antioxidant cream that can safely be used to treat all skin types.
