Release The Clutches Of A Social Phobia Using Hypnotherapy

by Alan B. Densky, CH

One of the most common anxiety disorders is social phobia, a disorder in which an individual is afraid of certain social settings. An individual with social phobia experiences debilitating anxiety that affects important aspects of their life.

People with social phobia are extremely self-conscious and concerned about what others may say or think about them. They are usually afraid of voicing their opinions, out of fear that they will be criticized or judged. Those with social phobia tend to look down on themselves or have feelings of low self-worth. They are worried about being noticed by others and find social situations to be very terrifying.

A person with social anxieties may seem "shy," but in a phobia, this is taken to extremes. For instance, if you struggle with social phobia, you may hesitate to make a crucial call because you're nervous about talking on the phone. You pick up the phone, but you're so nervous that you "freeze up" or forget why you called. Although it happens to everyone sometimes, for a person with social phobia it may occur every single time, until they find it difficult to make any calls.

Maybe it is the evening before an important presentation at work and you find yourself worried sick. You hate the idea of being in front of your boss and all your co-workers watching as you talk about a project or new idea. You can't help but feel extremely self-conscious and embarrassed. Even after the meeting, you can't stop overanalyzing everything you said and did. You worry that you embarrassed yourself in front of your co-workers by stuttering or saying the wrong thing.

Perhaps you would like to go to parties and make friends, but you avoid socializing because you're nervous about introducing yourself to someone new. You find parties daunting and the idea of meeting someone new scares you. You worry about what you will say, or that people won't like you. You might end up staying at home a lot because you're too worried to go out. These are only some examples of the way social phobias can influence us.

Social phobias are overblown fears that can keep you from achieving your career goals or fully enjoying life. But even people who realize their fears are irrational may not be able to rid themselves of their phobia. People with social phobia would love to socialize and make new friends, but are just too afraid to do so. Despite their conscious desires and best efforts, they can't shake their phobia because every phobia is seated in the unconscious level of the mind. Ericksonian hypnosis therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques are the most effective phobia treatments because they resolve issues at the unconscious level.

It can be hard for sufferers of social phobia to get cured because they can be too afraid to visit a counselor or talk about their fear. This is why hypnosis therapy programs work great for them. The programs promote a confidence boosting, calm mind frame in a privacy, without being overwhelming or intimidating.

The first stage in a phobia program is relaxation therapy. Hypnotic therapy is a powerful tool for relieving your stress and anxiety. When you are relaxed, hypnotic techniques will foster positive ideas in your unconscious mind and end your social phobia. NLP techniques are used to relieve your fears by targeting the thought process that produces a phobia.

In traditional hypnosis, specially worded post-hypnotic suggestions are used to treat every different phobia. The problem is, people often ignore being merely told what to do or think, so traditional hypnosis doesn't always work. A phobia requires a combination of NLP and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy.

Ericksonian hypnosis therapy techniques work better than traditional hypnosis because they utilize suggestions that are not obvious to the conscious mind, instead of direct suggestions. These ideas are placed in discussion, in different stories and metaphors, to convince the unconscious mind to adopt a new line of reasoning. For this reason, Ericksonian hypnosis therapy is far more successful than traditional hypnotherapy and much harder for the unconscious mind to resist.

A single program that utilizes Ericksonian hypnotic therapy and NLP techniques can treat any phobia, in any individual. This is because various techniques are used together to increase their effectiveness. People are frequently in awe of the seemingly miraculous effects they see through hypnosis. Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP are great tools to help you build confidence and beat social phobia so you can live your life to the fullest.
