Burn Scar TreatmentBurn Scar Revival
Biological Skin Revival

Biological Solution for the revival of burn skin and the treatment and removal of abnormal scars left behind by skin burns yields:

● Release of contractures

● Reduction of postburn keloid scars and hyperthropic scarring

● Strengthening of fragile tissues affected by atrophic conditions (skin that tears or bruises easily)

● Improvement in quality of graft texture and color match and in scar pigmentation

Burns are caused by heat, electricity, chemicals, or radiation.

Burns can result in a loss of a large area of skin and the resulting scar will contract, causing the edges of skin to be pulled together, affecting adjacent muscles and tendons and restricting normal movement. These are usually treated with scar removal surgery using a skin flap, or graft and tissue expansion but can also be treated now with a biological skin revival cream.

A burn can also yield abnormal scarring or scars that go beyond the site of injury called keloid scars or it may result in excessively fibrotic scars called hypertrophic scars. Burn-related skin fibrosis leads to loss of tissue function and hypertrophic scar formation with damaging consequences for the burned person.

Acute radiodermatitis are lesions and burns caused by skin toxicity factors in people undergoing radiotherapy for cancer. They cause important loss of life quality for affected patients and cause delays on radiotherapy schedules.

These deleterious effects indicate the need of adequate short-term measures to improve the health of people affected by burns or radiodermatitis or at least to block further deterioration.

Up-to-date therapeutic options to prevent excessive or abnormal post burn scarring or heal adverse effects of radiotherapy are not able to meet the patient’s requirements. For post burn scars due to fire, scalds, electricity or chemicals these include silicon sheets, gels or other silicon products and pressure garments and topical concoctions similar to those proposed for radiodermatitis and include emollients and topic corticosteroids, although the latter are limited to brief periods of treatment due to their potential adverse effects.

Heat, Chemical and Electricity Burns and Radiation induces skin damage and reduces its regenerative capability, adversely affecting the normal capacity of the body to heal wounds. Thus, potential treatment should induce, potentiate and/or accelerate the regenerative capability of damaged skin.

What our customers report:

My son burned 45% of his body all 3rd degree burns. This cream seems to be helping him. Annette Balch. TX, USA. See her following reports at the right hand column in this page with a click on: burned skin

I have been using BIOSKINCARE on my son for 5 weeks and my husband and I have noticed a dramatic difference in the texture and appearance of his skin. My son is two and a half years old and suffered a third degree burn to his right shoulder after pulling a kettle of boiling over himself when he was 20 months old! Thank you for your miraculous cream and for putting a smile back on our faces again! You have created wonders for us so far, hence I feel devoted to you! With many thanks and best wishes! Maeve Quinn. United Kingdom.

I have used two jars so far on 9 yr old burn scars and grafts on my face and neck. I have seen a difference in the color and texture. The old dead skin is slowly peeling away. I can't wait for my next order. Shawn L. Barkley. CA, USA.

I love your product. I see a great improvement on my burn scars of 35 years ago (2nd/3rd degree burn scars on left upper arm) using your product for over two months now. My scars have a smoother appearance. It has not completely gone away but it certainly looks better. I have also used your product for an open wound (size of a pencil eraser) on a black mole removed by my doctor. The stitches tore open. This product healed my wound faster than it would with an OTC prescription. I am allergic to Neosporin that made it worse. I'll continue to use the product. Thank you so much! Mary Santos. CA, USA.

I first tried your product using only one jar to help with a chemical burn on scalp. It worked some, but then went back to my previous condition. However, after reading your site about how at least 2 jars are needed to have a noticeable improvement, I purchased 2 jars. And indeed, after finishing both jars, I have a noticeable improvement. Though I wish I could snap my fingers to have this problem go away, I guess I will have to be adequately satisfied with your incredible godsend of a product. For the first time in several years, I feel hope. Thank you. John Briscoe. CA, USA.

I am buying two more jars... Well I would like to CONGRATULATE all of you. IT WORKS! WELL. I have used a jar of your snail cream on my burn that I received when I was 5 and it has very very much reduced. I don't have to hide it with any shirts if I go to work out or to the beach! THANK YOU! O. Fakturovich. MA, USA

This cream is amazing. My skin has never been clearer. It seems to be working better than my prescription creams. My scars also appear to be reducing. I also have been using it on burns with excellent results. Thank you for such a wonderful product! Shelley Orton. UT. USA.

I have been using you product for four months, and the results are outstanding. There is no recurring acne on my face and the scarring has yet to be diminished. However, your product is better than any other product that I have used in the past. It does wonders on burns with immediate healing results, and virtually eliminating the stinging sensation upon contact to the affected area. Cameron Templar. New York

What is the almost miraculous ingredient that yields those amazing results?

Please read carefully for what we will reveal next will not tell you how to get rid of acne scars naturally, but may lead you to a lifetime of healthy skin. We guarantee you’ve never heard anything like it!

It is a snail secretion or snail serum ... YES, PRODUCED BY THE HUMBLE BROWN GARDEN SNAIL!

BIOSKINCARE incorporates this all-natural ingredient that has been known for its healing and restorative powers since the ancient Greek times and praised by Hippocrates himself, the father of modern medicine back in the 4th Century, as a "sovereign remedy to treat pain related to burns, abscesses and other wounds". (Hippocrates is the author of the Hippocratic Oath pertaining to the ethical practice of Doctors).

Since the 19th century there has been a renewed interest in the pharmaceutical and medical use of snails, particularly for dermatological applications.

But the most common purpose for raising snails in modern times has been for food. That is, until a snail farm in Chile noticed that their snail handlers had exceptionally smooth hands, and any cuts or abrasions to their hands healed unusually quickly and without scars.

This is the ONLY substance found in NATURE, yet known, created by a living creature to protect, moisturize, repair, and regenerate its own skin whenever injured. It even regenerates its tentacles, mouth and its eyes to almost complete recovery of function when bitten by predators such as birds or large insects that love to feed on their proteic, moist and tender flesh. A flesh that happens to be made with the same structural elements we find in human skin: collagen, elastin, water holding molecules, etc.

The substance secreted by snails to regenerate their skin is, according to scientific screening, a biological complex compound of glyco or sugar chain molecules bound to proteins, peptides, enzymes, coenzymes and oligoelements.

The snail we collect the secretion from is of the species Crystomphalus Aspersa or Helix Aspersa Müller, also known as the humble brown garden snail. Using proprietary technology, no harm is inflicted upon the snails during the labor-extensive gathering process.

Regeneration of Damaged Skin - Burn Scar Healing

Link to Publication: Skin Regeneration . Copyright © 2007 S. Karger AG, Basel

This recent publication confirms previous research done in Spain that claims the secretion of land snails of the species Cryptomphalus Aspersa or Helix Aspersa Müller posses skin-regenerative properties. It has superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) antioxidant activities as well as other multiple modes of antioxidant action, acting at the level of free radical production and also sequestering free radicals. It stimulates fibroblast proliferation and rearrangement of the dinamic structures in the actin cytoskeleton of cells.

Additional mechanisms involved in the regenerative effect of the mollusk's secretion include the stimulation of extracellular matrix assembly and the regulation of metalloproteinase enzyme activities, which limits the extent of the damage during wounding and scar formation.

Together, these effects provide an array of molecular mechanisms underlying the secretion's induced cellular regeneration and support its use as a skin regenerative treatment product that reduces radiation and other burn-induced skin alterations.

The snail secretion or serum contains a balanced mixture of NATURAL FACTORS THAT HELP TO RECOVER THE NORMAL PHYSIOLOGY OF THE SKIN.

  • Low molecular weight proteins that activate Fibroblast Growth Factor activity. Fibroblasts proliferation is key for they are the stem cells that give rise to new connective tissues: collagen and elastin fibers plus the glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans that act as the glue that bind cells together and as fillers with a large capacity to withhold many times their weight in water and give skin strength and elasticity.
  • High molecular weight proteins that work as Oxygen carriers (copper-haemocyanin)
  • Copper peptides that induce the degradation of "extra-large" collagen aggregates found in scars and promotes the synthesis of smaller more regular collagen as is normal skin
  • Enzymes, both with Collagenase and Gelatinase activities that degrade damaged proteins and tissues
  • Hyaluronic Acid, provides deep tissue hydration
  • Glycoproteins / mucopolysaccharides that act as signaling molecules and enhance communication among and within cells, thus coordinating an orchestrated process that recognizes damaged tissues, and activates the enzymes that "digest" or further degrade them into their amino-acid and other components, and uses those same components for the reconstruction of the extracellular matrix
  • Trace elements (Cu, Zn, Fe, Ca2+), some acting as coenzymes, necessary for Cellular Renewal,
  • Low molecular weight antioxidant compounds with Antioxidant & Anti-Inflammatory effects.
  • The tissue-regenerating effect of the snail serum is notable as it has been attested by studies done with a topical product including the biological ingredient at the Coaniquem Burn Center Foundation, a Non Profit Children's Burn Hospital in Santiago, Chile.

Also confirmed by clinical studies done in Spain, where the ingredient in a topical formulation was applied for the treatment of burns, blisters and damage to skin due to radiotherapy to 100 patients undergoing radiotherapy or that had completed radiation treatment the previous month at the Hospital Ramon y Cajal in Madrid.

If you have burn scars or burn marks on your face, hands, arms or other places, and you want to heal your scars and restore your skin to its original beauty, then you'll want to treat your burn scars with BIOSKINCARE.

The fluid mucin produced by these snails has high Antioxidant Activity, which helps the snail to protect its body from oxygen radicals when it comes out of his shell after hibernating and from the effects of solar UVA radiation as it thrives exposed nude to the sun rays and the hazards of the environment, pretty much like we merry around exposing our nude face.

The secretion also contains antimicrobial peptides and triggers the proliferation of antimicrobial peptides which protect the snail from being affected by attacks from opportunistic micro-organisms always ready to intrude when skin is injured. Now, isn't that truly amazing! As a result, snails never suffer from skin infections – can you imagine?

For human skin the glycoprotein secretion obtained from the mollusc Helix Aspersa Müller, bears high Antioxidant Activity based on its ability to capture free radicals produced during irradiation (for radiotherapy of cancer) and is also able to inhibit the production of free radicals in the skin. In addition, it bears superoxide dismutase as well as gluthation-S-transferase activities.

The application of Bioskincare with the snail secretions on burned and damaged animal and human skin enhances Proliferation and Other Functional Capabilities of Fibroblasts, inducing synthesis of skin elements required for wound healing.

    Fibroblasts

BIOSKINCARE increases and properly regulates collagen synthesis, correct fibronectin deposition on the extracellular matrix and hyaluronic acid content. Both the facilitating and promoter actions of BIOSKINCARE on the mechanisms of regulated cutaneous wound healing provide a rationale for its employment in the treatment of post burn scarring, in reducing burn-induced skin alterations and in treating radiodermatitis.

Prevention and effects on skin affected by radiotherapy
The application of BIOSKINCARE before radiotherapy as a preventive treatment yields a faster amelioration of wounds caused by radiotherapy. Its application to cure radiodermatitis is better than the standard use of chamomile water and corticosteroids, and it has the great advantage of having no side effects whatsoever.

Scar Care, Skin Wounds Treatment & Skin Care Reinvented
From a dermatologist perspective BIOSKINCARE™ performs four functions in concert:

    1) Supports the defense mechanism of the skin against free radicals, the effects of solar radiation and induces the proliferation of antimicrobials that protect from invading microbes.

    2) Helps the immune system to recognize non functional and damaged tissues

    3) Degrades those disfunctional, damaged, dead or dying cells into their basic amino-acid and other components and releases them for regeneration of healthy cells, and

    4) Orchestrates and supports the regeneration of the skin matrix by triggering the proliferation of all the structural elements of healthy skin.

How it Works in further detail

The snail serum restores the natural skin repair mechanisms

1.- Induces the proliferation of FIBROBLASTS and reconstitutes the optimal functional capability of prematurely senescent fibroblasts.

    - Fibroblast growth factor-like activity:
    (J.P Pivel et al.Dermatología & Cosmética, 1998)

    • Induces Fibroblast Proliferation
    • Provides Hyaluronic Acid
    • Provides new Collagen and Elastic fibers
    • Provides Fibronectin and other components of the extracellular matrix.

The extracellular matrix (ECM) in the dermis is composed primarily of Type-I collagen, associated with a lower amount of Type-III collagen, elastin and associated microfibrils, proteoglycans and fibronectin.

Collagen is a protein, which acts as a "glue" in the body, adding strength and elasticity to connective tissue.

Fibronectin (fi·bro·nec·tin) (fi”bro-nek´tin) [fibro- + nexus] any of several related adhesive glycoproteins, cell-surface proteins, that mediate cellular adhesive interactions. Fibronectins are important in connective tissue, where they cross-link to collagen, and are also involved in aggregation of platelets.

    - Favours the correct assembly of the fibronectin into appropriate patterns in the extracellular matrix
    (J.P Alonso-Lebrero et al. Poster # 0235 at IID/Sid Miami 2003)

Pattern formation is the activity by which embryonic cells form ordered spatial arrangements of differentiated tissues. The physical complexity of higher organisms arises during embryogenesis through the interplay of cell-intrinsic lineage and cell-extrinsic signaling. Inductive interactions are essential to embryonic patterning in vertebrate development from the earliest establishment of the body plan, to the patterning of the organ systems, to the generation of diverse cell types during tissue differentiation. The effects of developmental cell interactions are varied.

Typically, responding cells are diverted from one route of cell differentiation to another by inducing cells that differ from both the uninduced and induced states of the responding cells (inductions). Sometimes cells induce their neighbors to differentiate like themselves (homeogenetic induction); in other cases a cell inhibits its neighbors from differentiating like itself.

Cell interactions in early development may be sequential, such that an initial induction between two cell types leads to a progressive amplification of diversity. Moreover, inductive interactions occur not only in embryos, but in adult cells as well, and can act to induce differentiation and establish and maintain healthy morphogenetic patterns and avoid abnormal patterns, as those in rosacea or keloid scarring and in photo-aging characterized by rarefaction and disorganization of both collagen fibers framework and deposits of elastotic material.

Human skin is composed of at least 3 layers: the outermost surface epidermis which contains pigment cells and pores, is paper-thin and gives all humans their pigmentary color and texture; the dermis or leather layer; and the sub dermis or subcutaneous layer which is usually fat, fibrous tissue or muscle.

The dermis is comprised mostly of fibroblast cells. Fibroblasts produce a bed of collagen and ground substances such as hyaluronic acid for the dermis. When a disturbance occurs in the dermis such as trauma, fibroblasts are activated and not only produce new reparative strengthening collagen but contract, thus tightening and sealing healing tissue.

Collagen is a basic structural protein found through almost all of the human body. It is present in under 5% of the epidermis, half of the dermis and about 20% of the subcutaneous layer depending upon the race, location, age and previous trauma of the individual.

Immediate collagen shrinkage is usually parallel to the axis of the individual collagen fiber which roughly corresponds to the direction of collagenous strands as seen when stained and viewed microscopically. Thermal damage to collagen is likely brought about by hydrolysis of cross-linked collagen molecules and reformation of hydrogen bonds resulting in loss of portions or all of the characteristic collagen triple-helix.

New collagen formed leads to tissue strengthening as well as tightening.

2.- Facilitates the reconstruction of the skin's architecture through its triple action on COLLAGEN FIBERS

    - By Collagenese enzymatic activity on denatured collagen
    (J.P Pivel et al.Dermatología & Cosmética, 1998)

    - By providing copper-haemocyanin to supply the oxygen necessary for proper collagen formation
    (G.Gimenez, Hosp Princesa, 2002)

    - By providing a structural support network of fibronectin
    (J.P Alonso-Lebrero et al. Poster # 0235 Miami 2002)

3.- Restores the ELASTIC FIBER network by

    - Collagenase and gelatinase enzymatic activity on elastotic material in skin
    (J.P Pivel et al.Dermatología & Cosmética, 1998)
    - Promoting the synthesis of new fibers through its action on fibroblasts
    (A.Brieva et al Dermatología & Cosmética, 1998)
    - Providing structural support network of fibronectin
    (J.P Alonso-Lebrero et al. Poster # 0235 Miami 2002)

4.- Increases the natural ability of the dermis to take up and hold water, thus influencing its VOLUME, STRENGTH and ELASTICITY

    - Provides hyaluronic acid and improves the formation of fibrous tissues - fibroplasia.

The snail secretion enhances the protective mechanisms of the skin:

1.- Has strong ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY (inhibition of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) generation plus free radical sequestration)

    The secretion has:
    - low molecular weight compounds that act against hydroxyl radicals. (OH-)
    - superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and conjugated enzymes such as Glutathione-S-transferase (GSH-T) activity against superoxide anions (O-)
    - acts against UVA, the mucin shows double the cytoplasm protection activity of control antioxidants
    (A.Brieva et al Dermatología & Cosmética, 2001)

Oxygen is essential for most life forms, but it is also inherently toxic due to its biotransformation into reactive oxygen species (ROS). The main cellular components susceptible to damage by free radicals are lipids (peroxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in membranes), proteins (denaturation), carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Consequences of hypoxia-induced oxidative stress depend on tissue and/or species (i.e. their tolerance to anoxia), on membrane properties, on endogenous antioxidant content and on the ability to induce the response in the antioxidant system.

Effective utilization of energy resources (starch, sugars) and the switch to anaerobic metabolism and the preservation of the redox status of the cell are vital for survival. The formation of ROS is prevented by an antioxidant system: low molecular mass antioxidants (ascorbic acid, glutathione, tocopherols), enzymes regenerating the reduced forms of antioxidants, and ROS-interacting enzymes such as SOD, peroxidases and catalases.

The development of many animal and plant pathological conditions, as well as natural aging, is associated with excessive ROS production and/or decreased antioxidant capacity. However, a number of animal species are able to tolerate, under natural conditions, situations posing a large potential for oxidative stress. Situations range from anoxia in fish, frogs and turtles, to severe hypoxia in organs of freeze-tolerant snakes, frogs and insect larvae, or diving seals and turtles, and mild hypoxia in organs of dehydrated frogs and toads or estivating snails. All situations are reminiscent of ischemia/reperfusion events that are highly damaging to most mammals and birds.

The increase in the baseline activity of key antioxidant enzymes, as well as 'secondary' enzymatic defenses, and/or glutathione levels in preparation for a putative oxidative stressful situation arising from tissue reoxygenation seem to be the preferred evolutionary adaptation.

Snails mucin contains active antioxidant defenses, such as superoxide dismutase, conjugated enzymes such as Glutathione-S-transferase (GSH-T), catalase, and glutathione reductase to deal with physiological oxidative stress that occurs as part of natural cycles of stress/recovery that alter oxygen and PO2 levels in tissues rapidly, within the early minutes of recovery after hibernation or each day at night when the environment is humid and they awaken from the dormant state they have been during the dry day.

2.- Helps to maintain the PHYSIOLOGICAL BALANCE between the synthesis and degradation of all structural elements of the skin by
    - Stimulating metalloproteinase activity on denatured material
    - Protecting newly synthesized elements from degradation (via Metalloproteinase inhibitors)

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are members of an enzyme family that require a zinc ion in their active site for catalytic activity. MMPs are Zn2+- and Ca2+-requiring endopeptidases which split peptides and polypeptides into smaller peptides by targeting peptide bonds near the centre of the molecule. These enzymes are collectively capable of degrading or hydrolyzing most of the extracellular matrix components. Four broad types of MMP have been described including collagenases, gelatinases, stromelysins and membrane-type MMP. These enzymes can be produced by several different types of cells in skin such as fibroblasts, keratinocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, mast cells, and eosinophils and their activity can be specifically inhibited by TIMPs (tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases), which bind to active MMPs with 1:1 stoichiometry. In general, MMPs are not constitutively expressed in skin but are induced temporarily in response to exogenous signals such as various cytokines, growth factors, cell matrix interactions and altered cell-cell contacts.

These proteinases play a central role in many biological processes such as normal tissue remodeling, embryogenesis, wound healing and angiogenesis. Currently about 26 MMP genes have been identified, and most are multidomain zinc endopeptidases.

In healthy tissue a strict regulation of MMPs is critical in order to maintain proper ECM homeostasis. Among other levels of regulation, MMPs are precisely regulated by their main endogenous protein inhibitors (TIMPs). Disruption of this balance results in serious diseases such as fibrosis, arthritis, and tumour growth. Several studies have documented the importance of MMP-mediated ECM destruction for tumour initiation, growth, migration, angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis. Certain MMPs such as gelatinases (MMP-2, MMP-9) have special mechanisms to localize at leading edges in tumour tissue. MMPs can no longer be thought of solely as ECM destructionists, but as part of an elegant communication system through which epithelial and tumor cells interact with the stroma.

Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) are natural inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) found in most tissues and body fluids. By inhibiting MMPs activities, they participate in tissue remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM). The balance between MMPs and TIMPs activities is involved in both normal and pathological events such as wound healing, tissue remodeling, angiogenesis, invasion, tumorigenesis and metastasis. The intracellular signalling controlling both TIMPs and MMPs expression begins to be elucidated and gaining insights into the molecular mechanisms regulated by TIMPs and MMPs could represent a new approach in the development of potential therapeutics.

3.- Through its collagenase and gelatinase enzymatic activity, the mucin helps to REDUCE THE INFLAMMATORY EFFECT caused by denatured proteins in injured and aging skin.

Fights the signs of biological and UV-induced skin aging. Acts as a biological sun protection factor by vitalizing the skin's own UV-protection. Helps to prevent DNA damage due to UV.

Stimulates regenerative functions of the skin and thereby improves skin firmness and structure.

BIOSKINREPAIR cream is based on the same ingredients in BIOSKINCARE with two additional ingredients of botanical origin that play an important role in keloid scar removal and in halting keloids itching:

An extract from the Butterbur Herb (Petasites japonicus) with the ability to minimize mast cell degranulation and histamine release to help relieve discomfort in sensitive skin associated with itching, irritation and rosacea.

An extract of the The Elder Tree (Sambucus nigra L.) that reduces the Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) biosynthesis of keratinocytes and has a distinct antiinflammatory effect and decreases vascular permeability. The Elder Tree is cultivated by organic methods in the Suisse Alps, and studies show it has a significant dose dependant capacity to reduce the VEGF biosynthesis of keratinocytes which plays a crucial role in the inflammatory process. VEGF is responsible for the chemotactism of immunocompetent cells and vascular permeability. VEGF is expressed at low levels in healthy skin and up-regulated by keratinocytes in inflammations.

Ultra exfoliate rough scars and dull skin with BIOSKINEXFOL

Home microdermabrasion for acne scars cream. Contains the same natural ingredients in BIOSKINCARE but infused with micro-crystals so that you may rub it with your finger tips to remove old, hard, and tough scars or stretch marks by a physical breakdown of the scar tissues. Best also for oily skin and aged skin, actinic keratosis scales and pitted acne scars. Not for keloids and not if your skin is still fragile (use BIOSKINCARE for a few months first to strengthen your skin). The compounded action of the physical abrasion and the enzymes in the cream liquefy damaged proteins more thoroughly helping to release amino-acids to aid in rebuilding damaged tissues quickly. Results are not only immediate, but compound over time and do not trigger inflamm-aging of delicate skin tissues.
